6 <br /> Select Board <br /> Minutes <br /> April. 1,2024 <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br /> -Shellfish Commission: wi lit Pfundsteh,Associate Member,Term.EN,pires June 3Q 20221- <br /> ­_­ ........... z_-­­­­ ­­­ ­­­­­­ ­­­­ ­­­­._..­­­­­ -- <br /> Dwight Pfundstein met with the Select Board to review his interest in serving on the Shellfish Commission as an <br /> Associate Member. Correspondence was received from Peter Thomas, Chair of the Shellfish Commission dated <br /> March 15, 2024 recommending the appointment. This is a non-voting position. <br /> Mr. Pfundstein has a long history of volunteerism in the Mashpee community as well as an educational: <br /> background to make him an ideal candidate for this position. Mr. Pfundstein, a 38-year resident holds a Bachelor <br /> of Science degree in Environmental Conservation. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Sherman to appoint Dwight Pfundstein to the Shellfish Commission as an <br /> Associate-member with-a-term-to-expire;June 34,2#24. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Weeden. <br /> VOTE: 5-0. Mr. Debrowski,a <br /> resident of New Seabury noted he is currently paying a yearly fee for wastewater. In his opinion,the residents in <br /> this area should be removed from the denominator or offered credit as it is unfair to those who would be paying <br /> for two sewer systems. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Discussion and,A v of Nfay ti,ZR4 Annual Town Election lipm�Town Clerk Deborah Knee: <br /> Deborah Kaye, Town Clerk was in attendance to request the Select Board consider changing the hours of the May <br /> 11, 2024 Annual Town Election to 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. a reduction from the regular 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. <br /> election schedule. This year,the Annual Town Election falls on the Saturday of Mother's Day weekend. By state <br /> mandate, a Town Election is required to be held for a minimum of four hours. <br /> Mrs. Kaye indicated the Board of Registrars voted at their meeting of March 19, 2024 to unanimously <br /> recommend the Select Board offer Mashpee voters the opportunity to cast their ballots early at Town Hall <br /> beginning April 29, 2024 through May 3,2024. <br /> With the Early Voting Irr-Persorr and the Vote,-By-Mail optim it is anticipated-them would be a lower turn-out at <br /> the polls. The expense of the election is a concern of the Town Clerk due to budgetary constraints. <br />
