Mashpee Economic Development Industrial Corporation (EDIC)
Minutes – April 30, 2024
6:00 PM
Jehu Meeting Room
Mashpee Town Hall

Present: Carol Sherman, Denise Dutson, Rick Cayer, Pamela McCarthy, Patrice
Pimental, Glenn Thompson

Absent: Robyn Simmons

1. Call Meeting to Order

Carol Sherman opened the meeting at 6:00 p.m.

2. Approval of 1/30/2024 minutes
Denise Dutson moved that the committee approve the 1/30/2024 minutes, Rick Cayer
seconded, the committee approved.

3. Finance Report: The money market account has a balance of $309,500 and the checking
account balance is $20,977. The money market account made $3,057 in interest so far since
moving the funds to Rockland Bank.

4. Old Business
Denise asked about the sidewalks and lights that Terry Smiley (the owner of Wendy’s on Route
28) said would be helpful. Carol spoke with Catherine Laurant; Catherine the state had talked
about doing from Orchard Road to the Commons but had nothing on their plate going the other
way. Catherine didn’t know when they would bring it up again.

5. Chair Update: Town Counsel is retiring; the town will be hiring a replacement. There is no
update on the deed issues around the parcel the committee was going to have workforce
housing built on.

6. New Business: Guests for the next meetings were discussed, including people from E for All,
Solar Rising, and Sarah Chase from Mashpee Commons to update the committee on what’s
happening at the Commons (such as the new wine bar there). There are a lot of opportunities
for partnerships between the EDIC and E for All; the EDIC could sponsor a scholarship/grant, or
members could volunteer. Patrice thought it would also be interesting to have a regular show on
Mashpee TV where the EDIC interviews business owners. It could also be a way for new
business owners who went through the E for All program practice their public speaking skills
(something the E for All program helps people with).

Patrice and Carol will reach out to E for All, and Carol will reach out to Solar Rising.

Pamela moved the meeting adjourn, and Glenn seconded. The meeting adjourned at 6:32.
