[Agenda topic 3]Jet ski Noise and Reckless Operation
Discussion: The continued noise and reckless operation of jet skis, particularly from those
out of town, has caused concern for safety and made consideration of a fresh water ban on
jet skis in Mashpee a necessity. A 3/4 hour discussion on whether the application for
banning jet skis on the remaining last two lakes on the cape, Johns and Mashpee Wakeby
should come from through the Select Board or by citizen petition. Don Macdonald will
work with Ashley Fisher of Natural Resources on the wording of the petition. Three
gentlemen from Sandwich attended and voiced their opinions. One would take the petition
to Sandwich voters in Wakeby which would be necessary as both towns have jurisdiction.
Sue Dangel did not feel her committee should take this on but was willing to allow time to
sign the finished petition at their annual meeting. She would make the information
available on her Facebook page which has 390 members. Sam Fischer felt residents should
be able to use their PWC but because the State owned the ramp, it would be difficult to
monitor. Any petition would have to be turned in to the Select Board by July 81h to make
the Fall Town Meeting Warrant.
Conclusion:.
