MASHPEE CULTURAL COUNCIL <br /> MINUTES NOV EMBER 9, 2023 <br /> MASHPEE SENIOR CENTER <br /> PRESENT: Wendy Bornstein, Nina Cocomazzi, David Egel, Pamela Joseph, Diane Scott, Lee <br /> Smith, Andrea Watson, Janet Wright. Not Present: Winnie Graham <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> The meeting was called to order by Lee Smith at 9:03 AM, A quorum was determined to be <br /> present. <br /> MOMENT OF SILENCE <br /> A moment of silence was held in honor of Mary Alice Stahleker, in remembrance of her many <br /> years of service to the Council. <br /> MINUTES <br /> The minutes of the meeting of July 13, 2023 were unanimously APPROVED on motion by 1). <br /> Egel, seconded by W. Bornstein. <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> Citizen Survey <br /> The council discussed a summary of the result-, of the Mashpee Cultural Council Citizen Survey <br /> responses received at the Mashpee Night Out on August 2, 2023. There were 19 responses. <br /> Although this was a small sample, the Council members noted the preference expressed for <br /> school age events and a need for increased awareness of the Council's activities. <br /> Treasurer's Report <br /> Wendy Bornstein reported unused funds from 2023 in the amount of$666.70. The available <br /> balance from 6/30/23 is $98 1, and the FY 2024 allocation is $6,100. Reserving $305 for <br /> administrative funds, the amount available for granting is $6,776, On motion by 1). Egel, <br /> seconded by W. Bornstein, it was unanimously VOTED to approve the Treasurer's Report. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Discussion and Vote on Chant Applications <br /> The Mashpee Cultural Council grant requirements and priorities were reviewed, and the decision <br /> process was discussed. Each of the thirty-three (33) grant applications were reviewed and <br /> discussed. On MOtIOD. of 1.). Egel, seconded by W. Bornstein, it was unanimously VOTED to <br /> approve grant requests in the amount of'$6,776. Wendy Bornstein will input the Council's voting <br /> decisions with the MCC, which will notify those applicants whose requests were denied. The <br /> denied applicants will have 15 days to request reconsideration. After the expiration of the 15-day <br /> period, the MCC will notify the applicants whose awards were granted. The Council will also <br /> send its own letters to the approved applicants. <br />
