• Johns Pond—The channel serves as both a water level control device and a fish passage.
The primary issue in this section is the excessive amount of sand input due to storms,
necessitating the services of the Department of Public Works (DPW) for removal. To
address the erosion issues occurring upstream and downstream, the proposal is to regrade
the embankments, making them less steep. Additionally, creating jetties that extend
further out into the pond will help reduce sediment inflow.
• Mashpee River—There have been several issues brought forward:
1. The fish ladder is in disrepair and needs replacing.
2. Mill Pond is disturbing the fish migration path due to the large gap between the fish
ladder and channel.
3. Evidence of erosion along the riverbank.
The project is expected to be a long process and is currently in the data collection and
conceptual phase.
COMMUNICATION AND CORRESPONDENCE
• Mr. McManus and Mr. Kent will be unavailable to attend the July 11, 2024, meeting
and are requesting a cancellation. This will be added to the next meeting's agenda.
• Mr. Colombo updates the Commission on a conversation with the Select Board
Chairman regarding the letters of interest from individuals who wish to join the
Commission. He has requested that this topic be added to the agenda for the next
meeting.
ADJOURNMENT
10:28 Motion made by Mr. Cook to adjourn the meeting. Motion seconded by Ms.
Clapprood.
The motion passes unanimously.
Respectfully submitted,
() I-A6t- - . rv,
Alyssa Pinto, Conservation Commission Board Secretary
6
