Further <br /> discussion will take place once this standard draft has been updated. <br /> PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> Mr. Malloy, a representative from the Popponesset Working Group,referred to the letter <br /> submitted to the Commission and highlighted the following points: <br /> - The Popponesset Working Group understands the significant issues affecting their <br /> community. <br /> - Multiple requests have been made to the Conservation Commission to have a one-on- <br /> one meeting between them and the community. <br /> - The Planning Board has agreed to schedule a workshop in June to discuss similar issues <br /> the community has. <br /> - Discussion with the Barnstable County Flood Plain Coordinator has taken place. <br /> - Mashpee Department of Natural Resources Harbor Management Plan will also hold a <br /> community workshop to discuss floodplain resiliency, etc. <br /> - This meeting is to request a workshop between the Conservation Commission and the <br /> Popponesset Working Group. <br /> - Request to wait on drafting Regulation 25 until the DEP process is complete. <br /> Additionally, the letter provides a list of what the Popponesset community would like to <br /> see from Regulation 25. <br /> ■ Mr. Orsi reiterated Mr. Malloy's concerns and requests. Also, he seeks answers to a list of <br /> questions asked to the Conservation Commission: <br /> - What is the goal of the Commission? <br /> - What problems is the Commission trying to address and how are they going to <br /> be addressed? <br /> - Has the Commission looked into alternative solutions? <br /> - Who is involved in the discussion of drafting the regulation? <br /> - How are you trying to incentivize homeowners or landowners to address <br /> wetlands or floodplain concerns? <br /> ■ Mr. Johnston provided his findings on the research he completed regarding the DEP's <br /> process. He expressed his concern for the lack of transparency and requested a one-on- <br /> one with the community. <br /> ■ Ms. Penn acknowledged the efforts the town of Mashpee has made for environmental <br /> progress.
