Mashpee Economic Development Industrial Corporation (EDIC)
Minutes – June 25, 2024
6:00 PM
Mashpee TV

Present: Carol Sherman, Rick Cayer, Denise Dutson, Pamela McCarthy, Patrice
Pimental, Robyn Simmons, Glenn Thompson

Guest: Chris Ball, Mashpee TV

1. Call Meeting to Order

Carol Sherman opened the meeting at 6:03 p.m.

2. Approval of 4/30/2024 minutes
Denise Dutson moved that the committee approve the 4/30/2024 minutes, Pamela McCarthy
seconded, the committee approved.

3. Finance Report: The money market account has a balance of $111,457.48 and the
checking account balance is $20,980.58. The CD has a balance of $254,076.65.

4. Shark Tank/Small Business, Big Dreams
The committee talked about creating a competition for new (or fairly new) businesses in town,
similar to the one Rockland Trust did, to give them exposure and give the winners small grants.
Members discussed a potential timeline, with Chris stressing that having it further out would
enable the committee and Mashpee TV to promote it.

Patrice will send the committee members the template they used for the competition at the bank;
this can be a guide for the committee as members discuss the timeline, rules, eligibility, etc. She
will also send a sample of an application. Carol will have town counsel look at it for any
legal/liability concerns for the town. The bank’s application started in October with a deadline in
November. If the EDIC does that timeline the final show could be taped in January.

Chris suggested that in addition to Mashpee TV the EDIC run an ad about the competition in
The Enterprise.

Chris said he can tape the finalists’ questions/interviews.

The EDIC will have to meet in July to determine the timeline, rules, criteria, etc.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:01.

Next Meeting: July 30, 2024

Meeting adjourned at 7:11 PM.
