Essentially, they are looking to create a loop trail <br /> through this parcel which is part of the Mashpee River Woodlands Conservation <br /> land. The existing trail does not provide a loop. By providing a loop, trail users <br /> can stay in the woods instead of having to travel along the road shoulder on <br /> River Rd in order to return back to the beginning of the trail. Additional details <br /> provided about cutting and pruning protocols, signage details and current <br /> trail conditions <br /> Mr. Cook asked for clarification on proposed loop trail and creation thereof. Mr. <br /> Lefernier emphasized that no trees would be cut-it's mostly underbrush trimming <br /> and pruning with some removal of dead hazardous trees for safety concerns. <br /> Public comment: Parcel abutter John Clark raised concerns about having more <br /> trails created in the Mashpee River Woodlands and impacts on wildlife habitat. <br /> Mr. Clark detailed his concerns about trails inviting unwanted usage from off-road <br /> vehicle riders and questioned the overall need for more trails in general. Mr. Clark <br /> disclosed that they have an existing trail from their backyard into this parcel. This <br /> trail was preexisting when they purchased their property. Mr Clark stated concern: <br /> about privacy from his backyard to the proposed loop trail <br /> Mr. Clark requested the commission deny this request due to stated concerns. <br /> Additional discussion ensued between NEMBA, Mr. Clark and the commission on <br /> these concerns. Mr. Colombo asked about club trail signage and setback <br /> information to private properties. Mr. Malakhov clarified that the trail signage does <br /> not identify property lines, they only indicate that private property is nearby. <br /> Additional discussion ensued between Mr and Mrs Clark, NEMBA and the <br /> Commission on the details of the proposal. Agent asked about moving the trail <br /> further away from abutting property lines and provided his overall feedback on the <br /> trail proposal. Mr. Cook requested more detailed plans. Mr. Colombo suggested <br /> a site visit to determine proper setbacks from private property lines. Mr. Colombo <br /> requested this proposal be placed on the next available meeting agenda after a <br /> site visit with commissioners, the abutters and the mountain biking club <br /> is completed.
