9 <br /> Select Board <br /> Minutes <br /> May 20,2024 <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br /> MashVgpe_Warnpanoag Tribe's,Natural Resources Del arhnent Federal Clean„Water„Grant Partnersh 2,, <br /> Jason Steiding Director of the Wampanoag Tribe Natural Resources Department was in attendance to request a <br /> letter of support for the Tribe's 319 NPS Grant to perform nutrient inactivation in Santuit Pond. The Tribe is <br /> seeking to partner with the Town and other respective agencies to enhance the competitiveness of grant <br /> applications and to enhance the stewardship of precious natural resources. <br /> There has been no advancement. All studies verify the sediment has been and remains the primary source of <br /> pollution in Santuit Pond. <br /> The Tribe is requesting$700,000 in grant funding to conduct the nutrient inactivation treatment. The project <br /> includes evaluation,permitting, monitoring, stormwater controls, outreach and education was well as project <br /> management and reporting. If the grant is awarded the first alum(aluminum sulfate)treatment would begin in the <br /> Fall of 2025. The second treatment would be applied in the Spring of 2026. <br /> The Town of Mashpee is requester to partner with the 319 NPS grant application by providing a letter of support <br /> and statement of match that includes $228,000(October 1, 2023 to present)in grant funds received from MVP for <br /> Stormwater Improvements. The application is due May 24, 2024. <br /> Nutrient inactivation has been successfully implemented in many Cape Cod ponds. The combined alum <br /> treatments are expected to reduce 75% of the phosphorus load. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Sherman to support the Clean Water Grant Partnership with the Wampanoag <br /> Tribe and authorize the Town Manager to execute the grant documents associated to the 319 NPS Grant. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara. <br /> VOTE: 4-0-1. The grant located in lower Great River was <br /> relinquished by Mr. Ronhock in January 2024. <br /> John Quiterio was in attendance. It was noted Mr. Quiterio is next on the wait list with full support of transfer by <br /> the Shellfish Constable. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Sherman to Transfer the Aquaculture License 4014 from Michael Ronhock to <br /> John Quiterio as recommended. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman Cotton;yes Selectman O'Hara,yes Selectman Sherman,yes <br /> Selectman Weeden,yes Selectman Wyman-Colombo,yes Opposed, none <br />
