<br /> Upcoming Events <br />o 2024 Cape Coastal Conference - June 18, 2024, at the Emerald Resort & <br />Conference Center in Hyannis. CZM is organizing a free event with a registration <br />requirement. The conference heavily focuses on coastal environments throughout <br />the Cape. <br />o June 3 Community Event: Findings from the MA PFAS & Your Health Study <br />No updates. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br /> Discussion <br />o STEEP presentation (Tribe) – Mr. Weeden suggested to the Select Board to <br />conduct a joint meeting with other departments and groups in the town to present <br />the results from the study completed. Program looks at the PFAS leaching from <br />the base and the surface waters and everything moving south from that. Areas <br />tested include the upper and lower Quashnet River, Mashpee Pond and Santuit <br />Pond. Requested future testing sites include the Childs River and Coonamessett <br />River. Testing is completed twice a year however, the town has requested for <br />additional tests to be completed. <br />o JBCC Gun Range Military Training – The Select Board has drafted a letter <br />opposing funding for the proposed JBCC military gun range until the EPA issues <br />its complete report. They are seeking letters of support on their behalf, with the <br />agreement of those opposed to the funding. <br /> Motion made by Mr. Colombo to present a drafted letter of support at the <br />next meeting, June 24, 2024 for discussion and voting. Motion seconded <br />by Ms. Malone, whom has also agreed to draft the letter on behalf of the <br />EOC. <br /> Future Meeting Dates <br />o Joint Meetings Discussion – Will remain the last Monday of the month. Next <br />Meeting: June 24, 2024 and July 29, 2024. <br /> <br /> Discussion <br />o SRF funding (compliance) 2025 Project Evaluation Form – No action needed <br />from EOC. <br />o Regulation Interpretations of Regulation 25 – Presented by Mr. Colombo, <br />Chairman of the Conservation Commission <br /> Last updated in 2005. <br /> Primary focus in 2005 was on new development within floodplains. <br /> Current regulations mainly address "raze and replace" scenarios, which <br />lack sufficient guidance. <br /> Subcommittee has used the DEP draft in revising Regulation 25. <br /> Twelve communities, both on and off Cape Cod, reviewed their coastal <br />floodplain regulations for reference. <br />3 <br /> <br /> <br />
