An
inspection deemed the dam to be in poor condition due to woody vegetated growth on the urban
portion of the dam. Currently, the dam is under an order of noncompliance, which requires dam
inspection every 6 months unless specific improvements have been completed, such as the
removal of the vegetated growth. The town has recently signed a contract to either remove and or
replace the dam, which will require more time for design completion and funding for
construction. However, the Office of Dam Safety has indicated that if specific deficiencies have
been addressed, the Order of Noncompliance will be removed. The project is expected to begin
once the school projects have been completed. In addition, the work will be proposed to be done
before the beginning of the herring migration season.
COMMISSIONERS COMMENT—None
1
