MASHPEE COMMUNITY GARDEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE (MCGAC)
MEETING MINUTES
April 17, 2024 @ 7:00 P.M.
Popponesset Meeting Room

PRESENT: Chair, Kirsten Nordstrom, Frank Gallello, Brian Logan (via Zoom), Polly Minugh (via Zoom),
Roslyn Robinson Mann (via Zoom)
ABSENT: N/A
GUEST ATTENDEES: None at This Time.

CALL TO ORDER: Chair, Kirsten Nordstrom called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m at the Mashpee Town Hall,
16 Great Neck Road North, Mashpee, MA in the Popponesset Meeting Room.

DISCUSS AND APPROVE MINUTES OF JANUARY 14, 2023 MCGAC MEETING
Tabled until next meeting.

COMMUNICATIONS & CORRESPONDENCE:
Applications coming in for 2024 season.
Chair Nordstrom stated that applications are coming in for the 2024 season. She said that she has sent out
numerous emails to people that haven’t returned indemnity forms and/or applications. Frank Gallello
suggested giving them until the end of the week to respond and then move on to assigning people on the
waitlist a plot. Chair Nordstrom said she would mail a formal letter to them on Friday, April 19, 2024.
REPORTS

Per discussion and vote from 1/17 mtg. we’re no longer tracking volunteer hours. We’ll solicit
volunteers at key times during garden season (e.g. spread wood chips, planting/weeding native garden,
ongoing weeding and year-end clean-out).

Chair Nordstrom stated that she has requested a delivery of wood chips and as soon as she hears back from
the DPW Director she will send out an email in search of volunteers to help spread them.
It was suggested that it would be good to communicate to the gardeners at the first event that there will be 3
events during the season when volunteers will be needed and that the gardeners should plan to attend at
least one of them.

OLD BUSINESS
nd
March 2 event: Jay sprout, Sprout Farm.
nd
It was reported that attendance was light at the March 2 event with about 18 or 19 people attending. Mr.
Gallello suggested that the event be scheduled for April next year. Roslyn suggested some short talks right at
the garden.
List of native plants provided to Catherine Laurent. DPW will purchase in the spring.
1
