Sewer Commision:Nothing to report <br /> Barnstable County Coastal Resources[update:A[Wicket imported that Rick York has been <br /> nominated-to be Mashpee's alternate to theBCCRC.At also reported on the Cape Cod water <br /> esouwxs Restoradon Project,a Federal, State and local 30 million ten year project for <br /> salt mars, spawning babitat,shellfish bed water quality restorationirnnprovernent. <br /> One of these,the Mashpee Shoestring Bay storm water remediation project has been <br /> completed.Parking issues were compounded with road Widening project-for pedestrian <br /> and bile path removing parking from west side of road. Delays in boat launch and <br /> retrieval are extensive on weekends. Commercial activities(kayak business)add to the <br /> frustrations. Sevaal commercial fishermen complained to DPW chief over accessibility. <br /> Santt Pond darn and fish ladder restoration project received an-extension. <br /> Design plans are-50%completed and project completion is estimated for June 2013. <br /> Solarbee activity.on Santuit fond seems to be having some positive effects. <br /> Increased visibilities and reduced toxic algae blooms have been noticed,however bacteria <br /> counts have been recorded at higher then normal levels. Increased human and pet activity <br /> has also been noticed.Discussions with DPW have resulted funding availability and <br /> portaipotty installation. <br /> Auaculture activity is.being threatened. Concerns.of waterfront property owners <br /> are not just a Mashpee expmence. Education of property owners as to the positive effects <br /> of these projects must be improved upon as well as moving the Indu tri lion"fears <br /> the uneducated have on these types of'water improvement and entrepreneurial projects. <br /> 1 Municipality Tribal nbW reneurial projects will also feel-sad availability pinch in near <br /> future.The.Aquaculture Research.Corporation(ARC)is in a funding.crisis. <br /> ""As ARC goes,so does the shellfish industry go in Mass." This was a quote from Dick <br /> Kraus,President of ARC.He also stated he has 18 fulltime employees,an infimtrwture <br /> that dates back to 19 5-19'70 consUuction. $1-1.5 mfflion is needed for ust infrastructure � <br /> repairs. High energy consumption,fight water temperature control for phytoplaul ton <br /> growth,the food for young.seed, are the highest costs. The County is trying to purchase <br /> the 39 acre barrier-beach property and lease back the business area(10 acres are named <br /> for the business)while holding bier-beachperpetuity. Addition user fee possibility <br /> of$10 resident, 5 o commercial license to repay loan for site pure were discussed. <br /> There are currently 126 commercial harvesters,220 a uacu lture projects-and 17.5 5 <br /> recreational permit holders.ARC produces over 50 million oyster seeds and 30 nnillion <br /> quahog seeds annually.Them are -10 new registered farmers per year,a growing <br /> industry. Mate importation lay restricts seed from north of New Jersey borders only. <br /> Gear recycling program is underway which includes 20%gear over-purchase and <br /> cleaning progwn to lengthen gear life reducing land fill fie. Interns will be visiting 15 <br /> Towns across the Cape to review storm-water mitigation procts. <br /> Public Access: Nothing new to report <br /> Waterways Improvement Plan and Dredging: Mr. Bates stated that there was <br /> really nothing new to report except that he,was exploring efforts in wor .ng-with Ton <br /> officials for drab of'R`Q for Mashpee River project similar to the 1916 dredge process. <br /> A wrap up meeting with the Bamstable County working Group and the State on TOY <br /> Restrictions will be scheduled for Sept./Oct.tneltaae. <br />
