<br />Town of Mashpee <br /> <br />Shellfish Commission 16 Great Neck Road North <br /> <br />Mashpee, MA 02649 <br /> <br />MINUTES OF MEETING November 22, 2011 <br /> <br />Attendance: <br />Commissioners: Peter Thomas, William Holmes, Perry Ellis and Richard York <br />Others: Diane and Richard Cook, Marques Hendricks, Vernon Pocknett and <br />Robert Zammito <br /> <br />Convene Meeting: 7:00 PM <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes: Postponed <br /> <br />Old Business: <br /> <br />Richard Cook New Shellfish Grant Proposal: Richard Cook presented an <br />application dated 11-21-11 for the new shellfish aquaculture site in Popponesset <br />Bay. The 3.5 acre site is larger than the one presented at the November 8 <br />meeting including more area on the southwest side. Thomas – Is there a <br />shellfish resource in the area? York – I checked the new area on the southwest <br />side at extreme low tide when the sand was exposed and found razor clams. I <br />talked to state Division of Marine Fisheries Biologist John Mendes and he said <br />that the DMF will not allow shellfish grants in areas with significant razor clam <br />populations. Marques – What about quahogs? York – I did not find any quahogs <br />or other shellfish on the site. Mr. Zammito – I asked Mr. Cook reduce the site to <br /> <br />
