Paul reviewed the local employment pool questionnaire for the
database, and he distributed a "Skills" sheet to incorporate
into the questionnaire. He stated the goal is to assign skills
and focus on classifications . EDC reviewed the questionnaire
and skills sheet and made additions. Paul will revise and send
an updated version with the questionnaire mailing. Wayne will
be giving a talk to the Chamber re: the questionnaire mailing,
and news articles will also precede the questionnaire mailing.
A motion was made, seconded, and unanimously voted to put a
new crisp $1.00 bill in each survey mailing, subject to it being
legal.
Discussion occurred re: the EDC Work Program as it pertains
to the Coordinator and timelines. Wayne explained the
Marketing/Outreach (Task 1. 0 ) portion. Sid stressed the
importance of having an accurate Database (Task 2. 0) . Sid
referred to a dry-run proposal he prepared and presented to
Paul a few weeks ago to have Wayne test on the database, which
failed. Steve recommended setting some goals and work as a
team by going out and getting the developed property information
to fill in some of the holes. Paul recommended that the focus
be put on Wayne working on the database with the help of the
Committee. Paul stated we should concentrate on developed
property. Steve stated that we need a policy re: database
dissemination to inquiries in order to avoid liability. Sid
asked Wayne to do a data run again of the dry-run proposals
without using his own assumptions to determine the database
accuracy. Paul and Wayne will work on the developed
property database. Wayne and Sid will work on undeveloped land.
Wayne will divide the developed property list and Committee
members will follow up in the field and get the info to fill
in any missing information.
Steve recommended postponing the 1995 Work Program until the
database is perfected, since that ' s our primary goal for this
year, and the committee concurred with him.
Sid gave an update on pre-permitting for the Industrial Park
with the Cape Cod Commission, and he also gave an update on
some Industrial Park inquiries involving principals from Rhode
Island and Florida.
Sid asked Committee members if they could recommend persons
as alternates to be on the Committee; he would like to have
a Chamber person if possible, and/or someone with a broader
business/industry vision.
Sid noted his dialogue with the Water District re: a Business
Digest January 1995 article re: the high lead content of
Mashpee ' s water supply.
-2-
