Peter Dinizio requested an EDC representative be appointed to
the Watershed Committee which deals with issues of pollution,
septic, approval process, etc. The approach is more self
regulation rather than involving the Cape Cod Commission.
Wayne D. volunteered to serve. Fred D. moved to appoint
Wayne D. to be the EDC representative, Jack H. seconded.
Unanimous.
Fred D. noted that the Income Distribution graph enclosed with
the Mashpee Guide for Business is skewed too low and would not
be conducive to attracting businesses to Mashpee. He suggested
acquiring the economic/demographic report that supports the
current trend of businesses locating to Mashpee. The Chamber
or Mashpee Commons most likely has it. Jack H. suggested
gathering statistics using many reports. Wayne D. will update
this graph and add some information in the front folder of the
Guide about the Boch Center , Mashpee Commons , etc.
Fred D. noted there are three reasons considered when locating
a business:
( 1) lifestyle, ( 2 ) quiet and enjoyment of property, and
( 3 ) leisure time.
Fred D. stated he would like money allocated to tourism before
pursuing it further. He noted that Jane Coogan did some research
on B & B' s. Wayne D. suggested we briny it to the Chamber and
coordinate our efforts .
Wayne D. asked the Chairpersons of each sub committee to come
back to the next meeting with estimates to match monies with
Tasks.
Fred D. moved to adjourn at 9:00 p.m. , Jack H. seconded.
Unanimous.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Gelsthorpe, Board Secretary
-3-
