Karen Hart was hired to produce a two-color brochure. She and
Wayne are working in Payeraaker, and they are ready to scan
pictures. Wayne is waiting for information from Willowbend.
Jack H. stated four things need to be done in terms of marketing:
( 1 ) Market the brochure
( 2 ) Do a CEO mailing
( 3 ) Do Internet advertising links (banner ad) on the Web site ,
( 4 ) Create print advertising with a "tag line" ( i .e. "Discover
Mashpee" ) and include the Web address.
Jack H. estimated the cost $600 -- $800 to establish links for
one year. We could track "hits" or visits to our site.
He also recommended purchasing ad space in the Cape Cod TirLies
and the Chamber Directory. Wayne D. suggested the Wall Street
Journal and the Boston Globe .
Jack H. motioned to allot $1 , 000 for the internet ad campaign.
He will come back with some figures for the internet and a
reserve for print advertising. EDC spent $1 , 200 , last year for
ads in Cape Cod Life and the Cape Cod Times;
Sharon K. suggested looking at other proposals from EDC' s sub
committees before voting on this one.
Wayne D. asked Jack to report back at the next meeting on
specific links and prices for EDC to consider.
Jack H. suggested asking 'participating businesses and the Chamber
to help fund the ad caiLrpaiyn which would attract both tourists
and businesses.
Sharon K. will follow up on the third ad which EDC committed
to with Cape _Cod Life.
OLD BUSINESS
i
Wayne D. stated that he cannot represent EDC on the Mashpee
Watershed Committee since department heads are excluded.
Peter M. suggested drafting someone to represent EDC at these
rLieetiny s .
Peter M. gave an update on the Industrial Park properties.
He has applied for a permit on Lot 2 and one on the back lot
for a communications tower. The incubator space is for lease.
Peter M. looked into ISDN capability with Tom Sullivan, the
realtor. He has not had any more feedback from Ocean Research
who is considering -moving their business out of Falmouth.
-2-
