Wayne will prepare an information packet for Town meeting, and
he would like EDC members to speak their support at Town Meeting.
Fred inquired about the map showing the available commercial
property in Town. Wayne stated there is not much available:
10 acres is Town owned, and the rest is located in the Industrial
Park, Echo Road, and Mashpee Commons.
It was noted that the proposed Jiffy Lube property has been
purchased by Ken Marsters.
Fred D. suggested having a liaison between the Chamber and the
Town ( similar to Plymouth) . Wayne D. stated that he and Pat
Pry from the Chamber have a working relationship but they are
both part-time. Fred D. noted that the Chamber receives funds
from the Town, and he would like to see the Chamber fund some
of Mashpee ' s PR efforts ( i .e. creating and duplicating
user-friendly maps) .
SUB COMMITTEE REPORTS
Tourism: Fred D. noted that we covered the B & B Seminar
earlier.
He brought some flyers and literature from other tourist areas
( Swansea , Manchester , Vermont) and the B & B National Magazine.
Jack H. asked about the status of the reduced map. Wayne D.
stated he has heard nothing from the Chamber.
Jack H. suggested combining a two-sided, one-page navigational
resource guide (map side/events side) .
Fred D. suggested making the maps more user-friendly , and make
the Chamber more accountable since the Town gives them a
substantial sum of money.
Fred D. suggested possibly initiating a school CAD project.
Jack H. will call. Butterworth Publishing Company and Pat Pry
at the Chamber to follow up what was decided back in the fall.
He will propose doing a mock up. He estimates the job will
cost between $100 - $200. Hopefully, the project can be
completed before the summer season.
Fred D. praised the Mashpee Commons fold-out brochure for its
simplicity and layout. He approached Melinda. Gallant, President
of the Chamber, about designing a similar one for the Town of
Mashpee. He also had Bennington, Vermont, send their brochure
to the Mashpee Chamber. The Chamber has taken this under
advisement.
-2-
