- Drug Return Program at Mashpee Police Dept: Held two weeks ago, collected four 30-gallon <br />bags full of prescription drugs. Detective Waterfield and Library Director Kathleen Mahoney were <br />in attendance at the program. <br />- Police Chief Collins Gun Return Program 11/21/13: guns will be collected, no questions <br />asked, Mashpee Commons gift certificates awarded. <br />- Mashpee Kiwanis – focusing on doing something for teenagers for Christmas, through the <br />Salvation Army’s “Teens Love Christmas” program. They are having a fundraiser dedicated to it on <br />th <br />December 11 at the Mashpee Ninety Nine restaurant. <br />- Charter Review Committee – moving forward, some changes, mostly language changes. Mike <br />felt that the charter will recommend no major changes. <br />st <br />- Mashpee Cares – Focus on drugs and alcohol. Meeting again on Nov. 21 at the school. <br />- Town Meeting - Mike Richardson and Joyce Mason met today to discuss ways to improve <br />greater attendance at the Mashpee Town Meetings. <br />- South Cape Beach Restoration Project – Joyce Mason reported still working with DEP on the <br />design. <br /> Transfer Requests: None. <br /> Liaison Reports <br />- School Committee: Theresa Cook . Ms.Cook reported attendance at the quarterly meeting, <br />between two Finance Committee members, two high school committee members, a Selectman, <br />Superintendent Hyde, Town Manager Joyce Mason, Town Accountant Dawn Thayer and stated <br />that the atmosphere has a feeling of cooperation – any school issues are on the table before a <br />problem situation develops. Mr. Hyde is in favor of a level services budget as requested by the <br />Town Manager in her budget message. <br />- Library Committee: Theresa Cook. Ms. Cook stated that the library is interested in working on <br />a satellite website, and will enlist the aid of the Town’s IT Department website development to <br />possibly mirror what the aTown’s Recreation Dept. did a few years ago. There will be a meeting <br />with the Library Trustees, Selectmen and the Finance Committee to have a presentation of the <br />management study that was recently completed. Joyce Mason distributed copies of the study to <br />each of the Finance Committee members. <br />- Fire Chief Baker Retirement Party. Charles Gasior reported on attendance at Chief Baker’s <br />retirement party, along with Mark Davini. <br /> Replacement of CPC Liaison Rep. from FinCom. Theresa Cook volunteered to move <br />from backup person to the lead liaison rep. to the CPC. It was decided that the backup <br />representative appointment will be postponed until after the Finance Committee member <br />vacancy has been filled. <br /> Finance Committee Liaison Budget Meetings with Town Dept. Heads <br />Mark Davini stressed the importance and the value of the FinCom liaison representatives to meet <br />with their department heads in planning for their budgets. The following department heads will be <br />invited to attend the Finance Committee meetings to present their proposed budgets after the <br />budget hearings: Schools, Police, Fire, DPW, for example. <br /> <br />NEXT MEETING <br />The next meeting was scheduled for Thursday, December 19, 2013. Any applicants for the <br />Finance Committee vacancy will be interviewed at the 12/19/2013 meeting. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />As there was no further business, George Schmidt moved that the meeting be adjourned.
