X• <br /> �i <br /> Transfer Station Building Committee ` 904%R `-,r �!wALYH <br /> regular monthly meetingI 1989 <br /> 3 p.m. April 6, 1989 Town Hall Conference Room, 4_ <br /> Present : Charles Buckingham, David Terry, and Jose� >; <br /> Murphy Jr. Also attending were Michael Hanlon and Micc� tb�' <br /> Scipione of the firm of Weston & Sampson Engineers Inc . <br /> 1 . Chairman Buckingham opened the meeting at 3 p.m. <br /> 2 . Mr. Terry moved and Mr. Murphy seconded acceptance of the <br /> minutes of the Committee ' s meeting of March 2, 1989 . It was <br /> voted unanimously. <br /> 3 . Following review of Payment Estimate No. 3 in the amount <br /> of $240, 630 . 44 to Wes Construction Co. , Mr. Murphy moved, and <br /> Mr. Terry seconded, approval of the payment. It was so voted <br /> unanimously and Chairman Buckingham executed the approval in <br /> behalf of the Committee. <br /> 4 . Mr. Hanlon and Mr. Scipione then presented a progress <br /> report on the project . They felt the contractor was making <br /> good progress . They noted that the site work was complete, <br /> gas vents installed and about half of the station foundation <br /> completed. Mr. Scipione said the impervious layer was to be <br /> delivered next week . <br /> There was discussion relative to the availability of water <br /> from the Mashpee Water District . Mr. Scipione said he had <br /> discussed this matter with Nate Ellis of the water District <br /> but the question was the timing of the water construction <br /> project. The clerk was instructed to write to the Water <br /> District for information on the construction time schedule. <br /> 5 . Mr. Scipione then presented a letter from Weston & Sampson <br /> dated April 6 outlining the cost increases based on the <br /> station being about 50 per cent complete. A copy of the <br /> letter is attached as a part of the minutes . Members of the <br /> Committee discussed the $97,500 cost overrun caused by the <br /> finding of refuse in those areas not previously thought to <br /> contain it . <br /> With regard to the proposal for $11 ,000 for a sprinkler <br /> system based upon conversations with the Building Department, <br /> the committee referred Mr. Scipione to Deputy Fire.. Chief <br /> Baker and asked that he return to the next meeting with a <br /> recommendation after this discussion. <br /> The Committee asked for further information from the <br /> engineers relative to the request for additional compensation <br /> in construction supervision. Members wanted further <br /> information from Mr. Hanlon and Mr. Scipione and asked that <br />
