The Study Room & Tutoring Policy discussion does not reflect actual changes
made to the policy. Edits will note those changes, approval postponed.
PUBLIC COMMENT
None.

LIBRARY DIRECTOR’S REPORT
July was busy with some surprising stats. The Information Technology (IT)
Department is installing new hardware in the building.

The DPW was here conducting general maintenance on fire alarms.

An e-mail was received from a patron asking if there was any interest in
accepting a portrait of JFK. The members discussed that it might be a better fit
for the JFK Museum. A thank you will be sent for the gesture.

LIBRARY POLICY UPDATES & DISCUSSION
Ann Macdonald asked that everyone review the Open Meeting Law on Mass.gov.
Kathy Mahoney noted the goal of the Town this year is to educate. With the
retention of new Town Counsel, there will be more review of policies to come.

LIBRARY WEBSITE PROJECT
The library has an annual maintenance agreement with the website company
that allows for edits. There was discussion about font color and the viewability
from different devices.

After Ruth Nickerson, Ann Macdonald, and Beth Geatrakas met to discuss the
website, the following was suggested:
Redo the homepage, update Trustees terms and photos, relocate the login tab,
make summer reading more prominent, and eliminate outdated meeting minutes.
The new and upcoming titles are too difficult to locate, as well as the Library of
Things link. Lastly, it was asked that a book list be added of previous book club
reads.

Kate Milde inquired about the feasibility of translating the website into
Portuguese or Spanish, or even just information about getting a library card. That
is a form of accessibility. The Library Director noted that would be a great use of
grant money for all of Clams to explore.
2
