6 <br /> <br />Board of Selectmen <br />Minutes <br />January 28, 2013 <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS: <br /> <br />Recommendation for Appointments (2) – Special Events Committee: <br /> <br />The Board of Selectmen received two letters of interest to serve on the Special <br />Events Committee. Included in the Selectmen’s informational packet was a <br />recommendation from the Recreation Director in support of the appointments. <br /> <br />It was noted that Ellen Burke submitted a letter of interest through a Citizen <br />Interest Form after attending the recent Volunteer Organization workshop, and <br />Mary Derr is the new Marketing Manager at Mashpee Commons. Ms. Derr has <br />been attending meetings of the Special Events Committee, and assisted with the <br />Oktoberfest event last fall. The candidates were in attendance to meet with <br />members of the Board of Selectmen. <br /> <br />Motion made by Selectman Sherman to accept the applications of Ellen <br />Burke and Mary Derr for appointment to the Special Events Committee. <br />Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br />VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> <br />Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman Richardson, yes Selectman Sherman, yes <br /> Selectman Taylor, yes Selectman Cahalane, yes <br /> Selectman O’Hara, yes Opposed, none <br /> <br />APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS: <br /> <br />Ted Kendziora, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service: <br /> <br />Ted Kendziora of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service was in attendance to discuss <br />a proposed ten-year agreement with the Town and Partners for Fish & Wildlife to <br />grant approval to conduct a habitat restoration project for the New England <br />Cottontail on town-owned property located at 147 Lovell’s Lane, Mashpee. <br /> <br />Recently, the Orenda Wildlife Land Trust entered into an agreement with the <br />Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) to conduct habitat work on their <br />property which is adjacent on the east side to the town-owned property of <br />discussion. <br /> <br />Since the property is town-owned, it is not eligible for NRCS funding. As a <br />result, the Partners for Fish & Wildlife are prepared to fund the project. <br /> <br /> <br />
