MASHPEE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT/INDUSTRIAL CORP. MINUTES
DUNE 3, 2008
Present: Joe Noonan, Robyn Simmons, Rene Read, Mary LeClair, Brian Kehrl from the
Mashpee Enterprise.
i
Absent: Bob Cobuzzi, Bob Walsh, Terrie Cook
Joe Noonan chaired and opened the meeting at 6:00 p.m.
The Minutes of May 20, 2008 were approved as amended.
Joe distributed a summary of the meeting with Paul Niedzwicki, Executive Director of the Cape
Cod Commission. The main purpose was to inquire about entering into a Development
Agreement with the Cape Cod Commission which would allow certain land uses and building
types to be pre-permitted prior to development, particularly the two Town-owned parcels in the
Mashpee Industrial Park.
The Commisssion is the process of revising the threshold of commercial development from
10,000sf to 40,000sf.
It was suggested Mashpee streamline their regulatory permitting process for developers by
instituting a one-stop-shopping approach for development. Paul offered the Commission's
resources of personnel and demographic and research data bases.
Paul thought a hotel in Mashpee Commons might work better even though the Industrial Park is
walking distance to the Commons. He indicated that hotel chains are very wary of the Cape's
winter months of January through March. He thought medical and technology development
were good fits for the Industrial Park.
The grant application letter was forwarded to the Board of Selectmen. The letter is going to
Elaine Davis, Chief Procurement Officer for Barnstable.
Doug Storrs wanted the Planning Board to form a sub-committee to review the Master Plan of
Mashpee Commons.
The next meeting will be on the 24 h of June rather than the 17`". Mary LeClair will not be
attending. Rene will chair that meeting.
There will not be a meeting on September 16t''election day nor November 11th Veteran's Day.
Joe moved to recommend Elizabeth Curtain to the Board of Selectmen as the new member to the
EDIC Committee. All in favor. Unanimous. Joe Anastos is too involved in his business in the
Carolinas, and he is sorry he could not take the assignment.
Joe asked that the EDIC Web site be fixed and business cards be printed in-house.
