ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
APRIL 11 , 1995
Members Present: Sid Stern, Paul Reynolds , Steve Innis ,
Ted Lewis.
Also present: Wayne Duchemin, E.D. Coordinator
Tom Fudala, Town Planner
Nancy Caffyn, Jim Peters , Local Partnership
Committee.
The Local Partnership Committee along with EDC members were
present to re-interview two Consultants for the LPP (Local
Partnership Plan) , review and evaluate their proposals , and
make a recommendation for hire. The two firms, Kobyashi
Associates and Mt. Auburn, had representatives there to answer
any questions from the Committee. After lengthy discussion
and review, Mr. Fudala noted for the record that all RFP ' s have
been reviewed. The Committee was then asked to cast a vote
for the organization they favored. The results were that Wayne,
Steve, Sid, Paul , Ted and Nancy were in favor of hiring Mt.
Auburn; Jim Peters favored hiring Kobyashi . Paul expressed
the importance of using trained interviewers and the need for
qualitative research. Ted cautioned about "statistics
craziness . " Steve asked if Mt. Auburn ' s proposal could be
strengthened and if Mashpeee could state specifics in the
contract about what they want them to do. Mr. Fudala stated
that we can state things in the contract, but Mt. Auburn has
informed him that based on the 127 , 000 figure they will give
42 days of work to it. There being no further discussion, Mr.
Fudala stated he will relay the LPP Committee ' s recommendation
to Bob Whritenour which will go before the Board of Selectmen.
The meeting of the Economic Development Committee was called
to order at 10 : 00 p.m. by Chairman Sid Stern.
The Minutes of March 28 , 1995 were accepted as presented.
Sid asked Wayne to check with Bob Whritenour re: attending the
Board of Appeals meeting to give vocal support for a new coffee
shop trying to locate in Mashpee.
The meeting adjourned at 10 : 05 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Zar%Gard Secretary
