Cemetery Commission <br /> Meeting Minutes <br /> September 1 , 2003 <br /> Members present: Ernie Virgilio, Mike Scirpoli <br /> Others: Catherine Laurent, Mary Keleher <br /> F. Virgilio called the meeting to order at :30 p.m. <br /> The meeting began with discussion of a request from Father Tosti from Christ The Iain <br /> Parish. In his letter Father Tosti requested that a monument be placed in a section of the <br /> Great beck woods Cemetery. He would like the monument to be engTaved with the <br /> names of all the infants that are buried at the cemetery. The parish will pay for the <br /> monument and engravings. C. Laurent suggested placing the monument in a section at <br /> the north end of the cemetery. This section is not marked et. The <br /> } y Commissioners agreed. <br /> Father Tosti would like the burial fee to be waved for all infant burials, C. Laurent <br /> suggested that if a family of an infant wanted to erect their own monument they could <br /> choose to have the infant buried in the current infant sections at no cost but pay to place <br /> their own monument on the gravesite. The Commissioners agreed. Mike Scirpoli would <br /> like to have only one other infant section. He would like the second infant section to be <br /> re-marked for adult plots. He would also like to have other sections openedand <br /> marked. p <br /> The Commissioners reviewed the proposed entrance improvements to the Great beck <br /> Woods Cemetery. M. Scirpoli can't see spending a lot of money fora grand entrance and <br /> a high wall along the front part of the cemetery. He would like the cemetery to be <br /> viewable from the street. C. Laurent presented pictures of other stonewalls with fencing. <br /> g <br /> Both M. Scirpoli and E. Virgilio liked the idea of having a stonewall at the entrance and a <br /> roof iron fence with stone pillars along the front of the cemetery. E. Virgilio would like all <br /> g <br /> three Commissioners to be present during the discussion of the front entrance and will <br /> touch on the topic again at the next meeting. <br /> In discussing the general maintenance of the cemetery C. Laurent explained that the store <br /> walkway is now completed. She proposed that a landscaper be hired to maintain the <br /> property from April through October. She explained that theD.P.W. doesn't have the <br /> available staff`to maintain all of the property, The Commissioners agreed. <br /> E. Virgilio would like something in writing thanking the nen from theD.P.W. for the <br /> work they've done thus far at the cemetery. <br /> The meetingadjo' urned at 4:45 p.m. <br />
