They are wrapping up the new fire station. Town meeting approved hiring two
employees starting in January 2009. They have selected the low bidder from New Bedford for
the Library Project. The demolition of the old library has not started. The temporary library
seems to be working well for people.
Traffic and Parking at South Cape Village: Bob attended the Planning Board Committee
meeting and participated in the discussion to make Joy Street a regular street open to traffic. No
public hearing has been set yet. There is talk of taking the bricks out, and making it one-way
traffic from Roche Brothers to Commercial St. The net loss of handicap spaces will be three,
and the net gain will be two. She
is writing a grant for hearing impaired equipment.
Beach Access/DPW and Boy Scouts: Bob reported that several contacts were made with high
school seniors on October 8, 2008, and there is interest in helping.
