Melbourne Cragwell, Peterini�io, Norma <br /> Kumin, and Marcia Lindsey, Alternate. Also, present during the meeting,was the <br /> Affirmative Action officer, Mafilyn Farren. <br /> Meeting convened 4-6 15 p.m. <br /> .Swearing-In of Members and Organization of Board <br /> Board Members were sworn into office and the Board organ ed. Peter Dinizio moved to <br /> appoint Jan Strickland as Chairman. Marcia Lindsey second the motion. AR in favor. <br /> Melbourne Cragwell moved to nonuffiate Marcia Lindsey as Clerk. Norma Kumin second <br /> the motion. Discussion ensued about the fact that Marcia was an alternate on the <br /> committee. Marcia is a fill in person as an alternate. Norma Kinin motioned to nominate <br /> Melbourne CragweU for Clerk. Peterm' m`o second the motion. All in favor. <br /> Discussion of Waiver of Time—AA Poli <br /> The Committee net at the request of the Affirmative Action Officer, Marilyn Farren, to <br /> review a request from Daphne Monroe for a waiver(who has raissed the deadline under <br /> the Affirmative Action Policy) for a hearing before the committee. <br /> Chairman Strickland advised the committee that there is a young lady that has a serious <br /> grievance about differences and bad feelings between herself and her boss. He went on to <br /> say that he, Mr. whritenour, and Marilyn Farren met concerning this problem with the i <br /> young lady and her boss. She was given amble time to accept the mechanisms s that were <br /> being put in place for her to deal with this situation as per acceptance of her boss's <br /> apology. She did not adhere to the deadline. She was given more than ample time to <br /> accept the situation within the deadline period and she did not do this. Chairman <br /> Strickland advised that the committee needed to Grote on the waiver period. fir. <br /> Strickland said that the policy guidelines were discussed with Daphne and the Personnel <br /> Director. They went back and forth and Daphne went beyond the deadline. She had <br /> copy of the policy. <br /> Melbourne Cragwell asked if Mr. Long apologized and had there been any dialogue? <br /> Chairman Strickland said that he could not answer that and all the committee wants to do <br /> today is to mote as to whether or not she should get a waiver. Sel. oinato said"so that she <br /> could get a hearing". Mr. Strickland replied `'Yes". <br />
