Affordable Housing Committee"' <br />Notes of Informal Meeting Held Tuesday, May 7, 2002 G" <br />Mashpee Town Hall — Meeting Room 1 <br />Present: L. Botsford, L. Patrick, A. Weinstein, L. Williams, and J. Regan (joined meeting at 7:43 p.m.) <br />Absent: J. Cahalane, Z. Elizenberry, R. Terry, M. LeClair, and G. Marshall. <br />Audience: Bea Perkins (League of Women Voters); and Tom Fudala (Planning). <br />At 7:28 p.m. Leila Botsford, Chairperson, announced that there was no quorum present, but she suggested <br />those in attendance hold a brief informal meeting. This was agreed to by the Committee members present. <br />Leila then went on record to apologize to the attendees that again a quorum not present, and she expressed <br />disappointment that those absent had not called her to let her know they would not be at the meeting. <br />Leila informed the group that on April 5, 2002, she sent letters to R. Sherman, M. LeClair and G. Marshall as <br />discussed at the last meeting. Both Mary LeClair and Bob Sherman submitted a letter of resignation from the <br />Affordable Housing Committee, which Leila will forward to the Selectmen for them to accept the resignations. <br />Leila stated that she had a face-to-face conversation with Glenn Marshall prior to his receiving the April 5 <br />letter. He told Leila he was going to assign someone to the Committee. Leila asked him to please send her the <br />name in writing so she could invite the individual to the next meeting. Thus far Leila's received nothing from <br />hien. Leila will advise the Selectmen of this situation. <br />If Glenn Marshall's response not received by next meeting, Committee to consider whether or not to request <br />his removal from the Committee. Tom Fudala commented that by-laws state someone from the Tribal Council <br />to be on the Committee. There followed a brief discussion among members of the group on the interpretation <br />of various by-laws. <br />KEY TOPICS <br />Leila informed the group that in doing her part of Key Topics to be discussed, she noted Mashpee currently at <br />3.28% of Affordable Housing. <br />Tom Fudala commented that 3 Habitat homes not on the list. Bea Perkins said she'd look into this. <br />Arthur Weinstein mentioned that there was something in the newspaper that Massachusetts is making money <br />available for Affordable Housing. It was his recollection that it was going to be available to about 700 <br />families, <br />LaVerne Williams added that she heard some people with Section 8 Certificates were contacted and they were <br />helping them to find housing. <br />NEXT MEETING <br />Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at 7:15 p.m. in Town Hall Meeting Room 1, <br />ADJOURNMENT...
