TOWN OF MASHPEE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT COMMITTEE <br /> MINUTES <br /> MARCH 11, 2010 <br /> Members present: Bob/Beverly Wooldridge, Charles Maintanis, Terrie Cook, Trish <br /> Parolski, Marilyn Farren. Absent: Bill Dundon, Mert Sapers, Maria Hortaridis. <br /> i <br /> Also present: Alison Kirwin, CORD <br /> Minutes: Bob Wooldridge opened the meeting at 2:10 PM., Town Hall, Rm.2. The <br /> Minutes of January 14, 2010 were moved by Marilyn Farren, seconded by Trish Parolski. <br /> Unanimous. <br /> Allison Kirwin gave a presentation about the Cape Organization for the Rights of the <br /> Disabled, including deaf and hard of hearing. She brought some brochures outlining the <br /> services they offer. They mainly offer information and referral, independent living skills <br /> training, peer support, and advocacy. They favor incorporating `universal design' in the <br /> building codes and supporting new construction to be compliant. Allison welcomed any <br /> comments and feedback from members on how CORD can be of service to the Mashpee <br /> ADA. <br /> South Cape Village: Bob Wooldridge attended the Planning Board meeting on February <br /> 0', and he stated that the letter from the ADA Committee made a difference in their vote. <br /> There will be a change in the road in front of Roche, improvement in the `H' parking <br /> situation, and a change to Joy Street going one-way West. Details were stated in the <br /> January 14, 2010 Minutes. <br /> Handicapped Parking Compliance:Annual inspections for compliance are up to date in <br /> commercial developments. Debbie Dami, Town Clerk, will alert Charlie Maintanis of <br /> any complaints or issues. <br /> May Town Meeting: Terrie Cook reported there is nothing on the warrant concerning <br /> ADA. They plan to use CD's from the audible ledger this year as in the past. Large print <br /> warrants will also be available. Reasonable accommodation will be offered upon request. <br /> Conflict of Interest/Ethics Training: Members must complete by April 1St <br /> MOD Activities:Jeff Dougan has provided updates on new pending Senate and House <br /> Bills pertaining to ADA, which were made available to the Committee for reading. <br /> Autism Spectrum Disorder Seminar: This is being offered by CORD through the Mass. <br /> Office of Disability. Anyone interested may attend. <br /> Beach Access Project. We need to get the word out about this fund raiser. The Men's <br /> and Women's Clubs can help us. Marilyn Farren can put the word out to staff. The <br /> Mashpee Enterprise can run another ad. This project is beneficial to everyone, not just <br />
