TOWN OF MASHPEE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT COMMITTEE <br /> MINUTES SEPTEMBER 10, 2009 <br /> Members present: Bob Wooldridge, Beverly Wooldridge, William Dundon, Charles Maintanis, <br /> Marilyn Farren, Meet Sapers, Terrie Cook. Absent: Trish Parolski. <br /> The meeting was called to order at 2:00 p.m. at Town Hall, Room 2. <br /> South Cape Village: Mr. Megathlin was present to discuss the Joy Street project and problems <br /> with lack of handicap parking and crosswalks in this plaza. He is disappointed that the Planning <br /> Board has voted down making Joy Street a one-way traffic thruway with handicap parking. <br /> After hearing some of the problems and issues and a lengthy discussion, the following MOTION <br /> WAS MADE by Bob Wooldridge, seconded by Mert Sapers. <br /> To make adjustments in parking areas off South Street by adding a van accessible space by <br /> Olympia Sports, a temporary handicap space on shells by Wicked Pizza, parallel street parking <br /> by Dunkin Donuts, a crosswalk leading from both of South Street parking areas. The mark-up <br /> on the plan is to be brought to the developer. <br /> ALL IN FAVOR: Unanimous. <br /> Mr. Megathlin noted that in five months, a parking lot will be built near the Wicked Pizza. He <br /> will keep ADA in the loop as development occurs. Also,there will be four handicapped parking <br /> spaces near the new Walgreens. Only three were requested. <br /> Minutes: The Minutes of July 9, 2009 were moved by Marilyn Farren, seconded by Bill <br /> Dundon. Unanimous. <br /> School Doartment Replacement: A new business manager has been hired to replace Patricia <br /> Lugo. Terrie Cook will contact Rich Bailey about the appointment. Bob Wooldridge will take <br /> care of sending an appreciation letter to Patricia Lugo. <br /> Parking Enforcement_Update Mert Sapers reported that three new members have been <br /> appointed, and there is a meeting with Lt. Read from the police department tomorrow. <br /> Mashpee gps: Jim Vaccaro made sure there were specific handicap areas available and <br /> enforced with Police presence. October Fest is coming up on the 10thlllth, and the person to <br /> contact is Gus Frederick about handicap parking. <br /> Warrant October.lyh Town Meeting- There is nothing pertaining to ADA that needs <br /> reviewing. Dave Delvecchio will provide assistive devices for audio of warrant and closed <br /> caption-like system. Terrie Cook and Wayne Taylor are reading for the warrant. Mert Saper is <br /> going to follow up on large print for sight loss clients. TRIAD offers large print medical <br /> information sheets. Also, large print menus would be helpful and useful. Debi Dami may be <br /> able to help with that. <br />
