MASHPEE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT COMMITTEE MINUTES <br /> SEPTEMBER 13, 2007 <br /> Present: Marilyn Farren, Charles Maintanis, Bev Woolridge, Robert Woolridge, Terrie Cook, <br /> Trish Parolski, William Dundon, Mert Sapers(arrived at 3:00 p.m.) <br /> The meeting opened at 2:10 p.m. <br /> The Minutes of August 9, 2007 were approved unanimously. <br /> The Planning and Construction Committee meeting was changed to the 18th, so Trish will report <br /> on this meeting (which she is a member) next month. <br /> Quashnet, Coombs, and the High School have automatic door controls at their main entrances <br /> New handicap signs have been ordered to replace the old ones that have faded. Brad Tripp, <br /> Facilities Manager, is handling this. <br /> Town Meeting is October 15"'. Kathleen Moore arranges to have the communications access <br /> real time person present. Bob will check to see that she has everything she needs. Bob checked <br /> the warrants to see if any apply to us. There are no By Laws of interest to us on the warrant. <br /> Trish will check with Ann Bradshaw about Handicap parking for Town Meeting. <br /> The Business Manager when hired will fill the vacancy on our board to represent the schools. <br /> Trish will check and see how the process is moving. <br /> The next Comcast contract needs to include closed caption requirement. Make that part of the <br /> negotiations. <br /> Charlie noted that crosswalks need to be added in some handicap parking lots and access aisles <br /> need to meet requirements. He is observing and monitoring the new medical center construction <br /> process. <br /> Ramps and parking areas would be better designed if the designers were to sit in a wheelchair. <br /> Charlie suggested making it part of the inspection process, to include wheel chair occupants <br /> using the space. <br /> a <br /> Charlie is beginning the pre liquor licensing inspections to check if requirements are in place. <br /> A mat (for wheel chairs) on the beaches was recommended. One beach chair should always be <br /> out;they were purchased for this reason. <br /> Bob will try to get a copy of the ADA By-Law. He will talk to Tom Fudala and get copies out to <br /> members. <br /> Members need to lobby State agencies to get the building code adjusted. `' <br />
