MAS]HPEE BOARD OF ASSESSORS <br /> I <br /> October 121, 1999 <br /> PRESENT: Kenneth A. Porter, Chairperson <br /> Leslie M. Greig, Vice-Chair <br /> Marcia King. Clerk <br /> David A. Bailey, Director of Assessing <br /> Mr. Porter called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Mr. Bailey presented correspondence <br /> from Anne Maxwell Livingston, Esq., representing Reta Maxwell and in regards to <br /> property at 27 Melissa Avenue and 110 South Sandwich Road. Ms. Maxwell is <br /> requesting that either the$8,000 penalty tax be applied rather than the rollback or that the <br /> interest be waived. Mr. Bailey also presented a draft letter from David id T'ately, Assistant <br /> Assessor, in response to Ms. Maxwell's request. After discussicin, it was motioned <br /> (Greig), seconded (King) and carried to deny M . Maxwell's request end forward 11r. <br /> Tately's letter to her. <br /> Mr. 13ailey reported on the progress of several ongoing projects in the Assessor's office. <br /> Work on the mapping system is continuing. These maps are not survey reaps, but taxing <br /> maps and the degree of accuracy will not be perfect. However,the data will represent an <br /> improvement over the current system. <br /> The Assessors office will be installing new software when the books are closed for fiscal <br /> 2000. The new software is Access-based and will keep a complete record of each <br /> property's history with an integrated betterment system. A sales report for the Town has <br /> been completed. Tax bills should be ready within the next month, although the budget <br /> has not been set. The tax rate wi <br />
