TOWN Of MASHPEE <br /> BOARD OF ASSESSORS MEETING <br /> DATE: Thursday, May 24, 2001 <br /> TIME: 3:00 PM <br /> PLACE: Mashpee Town Hall, Assessors Office <br /> ATTENDEES: <br /> Les Greig, Vice Chairman <br /> Marcia King, Clerk <br /> Dave Bailer, Director of Assessing <br /> Ina Bchlobohm, Secretary <br /> Vice Chairman Les Greig called the meeting to order at 3:00 PM. <br /> Les stated that Ken Porter was unable to attend today's meeting for personal reasons. Ken was <br /> reelected to a fourth terra as Town Assessor by the Town of Mashpee on 5/12/01. He will b <br /> sworn in within the next few weeks. <br /> Les Greig made a motion, seconded by Marcia King,that Marcia King be elected as the <br /> Chairman of the Board of Assessors for the coring year. The motion was approved <br /> unanimously. <br /> Marcia King made a motion, seconded by Les Greig that Les Greig be reelected as Vice <br /> Chairman of the Board of Assessors for the conning year. The motion was approved <br /> unanimously. F <br /> Open Seace Definition <br /> Dave Bailey distributed copies of the Open Space Definition to the Board members present. <br /> Please refer to Attachment A. Les Greig made a mcftn, seconded by Marcia King, that the <br /> Board accept the definition as written. The motion was approved unanimously. <br /> Review of Abatement Applications F eceive <br /> Applications Denied <br /> Dave Bailey reviewed six abatement applications received by the Assessors Office recommended <br /> for denial. Please refer to Attachment B for detailed list. Les Greig made a motion, seconded by <br /> Marcia King that these six applications for abatement are denied. The motion was approved <br /> unanimously. <br /> Dave Tater commented briefly on the Zwidzinski application. In 1994 when the Zwidzinskis <br /> purchased their property, they were erroneously billed by the Town of Mashpee: and paid the tax <br /> unknowingly. In 20GO when they sold the property, they were billed again, and realized they had <br /> paid the tax in error in 1994. U fortunately, the Town is unable to reimburse the amount of the <br /> tax to the Zwidzinskis at this time. <br /> Applications Granted <br /> Dawe Bailey reviewed six abatement applications received by the Assessors Office recommended <br /> for approval. Please refer to Attachment C for detailed list. Marcia King made a motion: <br /> seconded by Les Greig that these six applications for abatement are granted.
