Town of Mas pee <br /> Board of Assessors Meeting <br /> DATE: Thursday, February 7, 2002 ATTENDEES: <br /> TIME: 2:00 pm Marcia Ding, Chairman <br /> PLACE: 1lashpee Town Fall, Assessors' office Les Greig, Vice Chairman <br /> Dave Bailey, Director of Assessing <br /> Dave Tatelyt Assessors' Office <br /> Chairperson Marcia King called the 'meeting to order at 2:00 Phil. <br /> Dave Bailey reported that the Assessors office had received 217 Real Estate assessment <br /> abatement applications, and 197 applications for abatement from New Seabury. <br /> Les Greig 'Wade a motion, seconded by Marcia King, that the Board accept the 26 applications for <br /> Deal Estate abatement listed on State Tax Form 155, dated February 2002, beginning with`I`raill, <br /> Susan Illi, and ending with Malchodi#William B Jr. The 'notion was unanimously approved. (See <br /> Attachment A for complete list . <br /> Marcia FQng made a motion, seconded by Les Greig, that the Board deer the following <br /> applications for Deal Estate abatement: <br /> Map 52, Parcel 61 <br /> Map 92, Parcel 2 <br /> Map 128, Parcell 19 <br /> Map 117, Parcel 63 <br /> Neap 132, Parcel 9, extension 8014. <br /> The motion was unanimously approved. <br /> Les Greig 'made a motion, seconded by Marcia Icing, that the Board accept the 44 applications for <br /> Personal Property Tax abatement listed on Mate Tax Fora 155, dated February 2002, beginning <br /> with Laliberte, David& Kari, and ending with Pidgeon, Richard& Cheryll. The motion was <br /> unanimously approved. (See Attachment B for complete list). The Board also approved a 45th <br /> Personal Property Tax abatement application not appearing on this list. The applicant was <br /> Richard W. Brooks at 2823 Main Street, Map 47, Parcel 29-23. The application was approved <br /> because Mr. Brooks is a full time Mashpee resident <br /> Dave Bailey announced that the ATB (Appellate Tax Board) had received an abatement <br /> application on behalf of the Stop and Shop on North Street in the Ma tepee Commons. Although <br /> Il ashpee Commons is the owner of this property, the Stop& Shop pays ° of the takes, thus is <br /> permitted to file for the abatement. They are asking for$1. MM in tax reduction, although the <br /> feeling is that they would accept less than that. Dave Bailey recommended that the Board not <br /> accept the abatement request at this time. Father, he suggests waiting to determine their next <br /> rove. Litigation of the issue would cost us$5000, and we are still ahead if we are successful. <br /> The next two meetings of the Board of Assessors were scheduled for Thursday, February 1 at <br /> 2: o P , and Thursday, February 21 at 2:00 Pull in the Assessors' office. <br /> Les Greig made a motion, seconded by Marcia King, that the meeting be adjourned.
