TOWN of MASHPEE <br /> Board of Assessors Meeting . <br /> Date: Friday, March 1, 2002 Attendees: <br /> Tire: 2: 0 PM Marcia ding, chairman <br /> Place: l lashpee Town Hail, Assessors_office Les Greig, Vice Chairman <br /> Dave Bailey, Director of Assessing <br /> Dave Tately, Asst Director of Assessing <br /> Chairperson Marcia King called the meeting to order at 2:10 PM. Corrections to the minutes from the <br /> 2/21/02 meet in9 were as follows: from line 2 in paragraphs 1 and 2, the words personal property were <br /> stricken from the sentence. The,min tes were thea approved as corrected. <br /> Les Greig made a motion, seconded by Marcia lin , that the Board deny the 19 applications for real <br /> estate tax abatement listed on state Tax Foam 155, dated March,. <br /> 2002, beginning with the name Gregor' <br /> James G. and ending with the name Sampson, Lawrence W. The motion was unanimously approved. <br /> (See Attachment A for complete list). <br /> One additional application for real estate tax abatement not included on state Tax Fora 155 dated March <br /> 2002, <br /> is from the Stephen Berish Trustee at 9 Old Brookyard Road. Les Greig made a motion, <br /> seconded by Garcia ding, that the Board deer this application for real estate tax abatement. he motion <br /> was unanimously approved. <br /> Marga ung made a motion, seconded by Les Greig, that the Board accept the 7applications for real <br /> estate tax abatement listed on State Tax Form 155, dated March, 2992, beginning with the name meet, <br /> Beeula and ending with the name Angelis, Frank. The motion was unanimously approved. (See <br /> Attachment B for complete list). <br /> Les Greig rade a motion, seconded by Marcia King,, that the Board accept the 30 applications for <br /> personal roper, tax abatement listed on State Tax Form 155, dated March, 2002, beginning with the <br /> p property r <br /> name Shea Robert and ending with the name Camara, Lucia. The motion was unanimously approved. <br /> 1 <br /> (See Attachment c for complete list). <br /> f <br /> Les Greig brought u the issue of the formula currently used for personal property assessments, Whereby <br /> P <br /> house andpe ro rt increase in value at the same percentage rate. The Board agreed that this is an <br /> p <br /> invalid assumption. The Board of-Assessors has the authority to charge this formula next year, non- <br /> revaluation year. It was agreed that the Board would examine the abatement applications coming i <br /> Y n next <br /> year to determine the frequency of complaints that apply to this issue. <br /> DaveTately brought up the subject of an application from Mr. Hofer Rohde for a hardship exemption. <br /> Nor. <br /> Rohde states that he is blind, but d'id not apply for a certificate from the Commission for the Blind until <br /> November god therebymissing the Assessors office July 1:2001 deadline for receipt of hardship <br /> rs from several doctors giving the status of his <br /> applications. Mr. Rohde was asked to provide letters <br /> blindness ars of July 1, 2001. Letters from doctors were received but do not state decisively that he was <br /> legally <br /> blind on 7/01101. It was decided to give Mr. Rohde the option to go back to the Commission for <br /> the Iind to have bis certificate related as of,duly 1 x 2001. If the Ccrrmission-complies with such a <br /> request, the Board can then reconsider Mr, Fohde' application for aN hardship exemption. i <br /> The next <br /> two Board meetings are scheduled as follows: Thursday, 3107102 and Thursday, 3114102 at 2:09 <br /> 1 in the Assessors office at Mashpee Town Hall.
