TOWN OF MASHPEE <br /> BOARD of ASSESSORS <br /> Minutes of the Meeting of March 25, 2003 <br /> Committee Attendees: <br /> Les Greig, Chairman <br /> Heather Noyes, Clerk } <br /> David Bailey, Director of Assessing <br /> Chairman Les Greig called the meeting to order at 3:15 PM. Minutes from the 01/31/03 meeting <br /> were reviewed and approved unanimously by the committee. i <br /> Heather Noyes made a motion, seconded by Les Greig, that the Board demi the eleven <br /> applications for real estate property tax abatement listed on state Tax Form 155 dated March 25, <br /> 2003, beginning with the name l` enort s, Costas and ending with the name Lynch, Nicholas M. <br /> The Board voted unanimously to approve the motion. (see Attachment A for complete list) <br /> Heather Moyes made a motion, seconded by Les Greig, that the Board accept the eight <br /> applications for real estate property tax abatements listed on State Tax Form 155 dated March <br /> 251 2003, beginning with the name chui, Patrick, and ending with the name Gilmartin, Robert. <br /> The Board voted unanimously to approve the motion. (see Attachment B for complete list) <br /> Heather Noyes made a motion, seconded by Les Greig, that the Board accept the fifteen <br /> applications for personal property tax abatements listed on State Tex Form 155 dated March 25, <br /> 200 3, beginning with the name Gregor, ,carnes G. and ending with the name Jankauskas, Louis. <br /> The Board voted unanimously to approve the motion. (see Attachment a for complete list) <br /> Heather Noyes made a notion, seconded by Les Greig, that the Board demi the application for <br /> personal property tax abatement listed on State Tac Form 155 dated March 25, 2003, from Bello, <br /> Herbert L. (see Attachment D). The Burd voted unanimously to approve the motion. Heather <br /> Noyes made a motion} seconded by Les Greig, to deny a second application for personal <br /> property tax abatement not included on the Mate Tax Form 155 dated March 25, 2003, submitted <br /> by Verizon Advanced Data Inc. The abatement application was not included on the Form <br /> because a tax bill was never submitted to Verizon. Therefore, as a matter of record for the <br /> Assessors' Office, the motion to deny the abatement application was unanimously approved. <br /> Les Greig announced that Heather Noires will be running unopposed for a 3-year terra. The <br /> election is scheduled for May 10th, 2003. <br /> REPORT FROM DAZE BAILEY <br /> Emergency Management Institute. Dave announced that next week he plans to attend an <br /> Emergency Management Institute Class sponsored by FEMA, a federal government agency. <br /> This particular course centers on hurricane mitigation and recovery: but the information offered <br /> could be applied to any kind of emergency. The purpose of the course is to prepare management <br /> lural it idividuals with the Information n requirements that must be met when applying for <br /> reimbursement from federal relief fronds in the event of a disaster. <br /> Budget. Dave stated that the Assessors Office budget for the corning year is less than 314 of <br /> ghat it was ten years ago. The impact will be felt in the elimination of programs such as <br /> continuing education for Assessors office staff. It is hoped that the cuts will be a short-terror <br /> solution and not a permanent one. Dave noted that the Assessors office has been more involved <br /> in the budget process this year than in years past. This is seen as a good thing for the Town to <br /> be receiving greater input from more Town departments on budgetary matters. <br /> 1 <br />
