TOWN OF M <br /> BOARD of ASSESSORS <br /> Minutes of the Meeting of Friday, April 23, 2004 <br /> Board Attendees: <br /> Les Greg, Chairman <br /> Heather Noyes,es, Cler4 <br /> David Tatelr, Assessors office <br /> Chairman Les Grieg called the meeting to order at 3:00 PM. <br /> REVIEW OF MINUTES <br /> The Board unanimously approved minutes from the meeting held on Friday, February 13, 2004 <br /> PERSONAL PROPERTY ABATEMENT APPROVALS (see Attachment A <br /> Heather Noyes made a motion, seconded by Les Greg, that the Burd wept the eight applications for <br /> personal property tax abatements listed on State Tac Form 155 dated April 2004, beginning with Glazer, <br /> George W. and Roberta M. and ending with Cates, Brim R. and Melissa F. The motion was unanimously <br /> approved. <br /> The Board discussed two other applications for personal property abatement(see Attachments B & c). <br /> I. Chamberlain, Keith E. & Elena M., on Tax Foran 155 dated April 23,2004. Les stated that Mr. <br /> Chamberlain is in the Marine corps, stationed at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, and is renting his <br /> home during his absence. Dave Tatel 'e plained that normally servicemen stationed overseas <br /> are given a break on tax abatements. However, because the house is being rented during Mr. <br /> Chamberlain's absence, he questioned whether the abatement should be granted. After <br /> discussion, the Board acted unanimously to approve Mr. Chamberlain's abatement application. <br /> 2. Prince, Scott A. & Bonnie L., on Tax Form 155 dated April 23, 2004, Mr. Prince is applying <br /> for an abatement on property at#2 Balfour Road, Map 21-Lot 22. The property is a corner lot, <br /> on Balfour and Silver Leaf Loads. He is unable to get a building permit for the property because <br /> of the current zoning requirements and the poor condition of the roads. Several homes have <br /> been built on Balfour Road. However, one year ago, owners of the property at#24 Balfour Road <br /> applied for, and were granted, an abatement because a building permit was denied date to the <br /> } poor condition of the road. Because a precedent was set a year ago to approve abatement for lot <br /> # , the Board unanimously decided to approve Mr. Prince's abatement application. <br /> OVERLAY TRANSFER (see Attachment D) <br /> The Board moved, and approved unanimously, to release$30,000 from the 1998 overlay account to b <br /> applied toward the revaluation expenses for this year. <br /> As here was no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:30 PM. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Ina G.
