TOWN OF MASHPEE <br /> BOARD OF ASSESSORS <br /> Minutes of the Meeting of Tuesday, April 5, 2005 <br /> Board Attendees: Also Attending: <br /> Marcia King, Vice Chairman John Duffy, Director of Assessing <br /> Heather Noyes, Clerk <br /> Jason Streebel <br /> Vice Chairman Marcia KJng called the meeting to order at 6.30 PM- <br /> REVIEW <br /> M- <br /> R VIE I!of MINUTES <br /> Marcia King asked for a motion to approve the minutes from 4/05!05. Heather Noyes moved that the <br /> minutes be approved. The Board unanimously approved the minutes from the 4105105 Board of <br /> Assessors meeting, After the minutes were approved, Marcia asked that the minutes be amended to <br /> reflect the fact that she had been asked, and had agreed, to come in on only one Wednesday, March <br /> 2nd, to sign off on abatement applications. She Mated that she did not agree to come in on Wednesday <br /> of each week. <br /> NEW BOARD MEMBER WELCOMED <br /> Mason Streebel was welcomed to the Board of Assessors. Jason's appointment to the Board was <br /> approved by the Board of Selectmen at their meeting on Thursday, March 31,4. On Friday, April 1, Mr. <br /> Streebel was sworn in by Mashpee Town Clerk Deborah Dai. Jason currently serves as an Assistant <br /> Director of Assessing for the Town of Barnstable. <br /> REAS. PROPERTY TAX ABATEMENT T APPLICATIONS <br /> A total of 36 abatement applications were reviewed. Of the 36 applications submitted, 9 were denied, and <br /> 27 were approved. The Board members reviewed the applications, and signed off on thein all. i <br /> .John Daffy stated that he has not yet been able to locate the software program for the summary sheet <br /> which gives details on each abatement application. Dave Tately will be contacted to assist in locating the <br /> software program, as he was the person who generated the document while employed at the Mashpee <br /> Assessors office. <br /> SUPPLEMENT AL BILLS 0 N NEW CONSTRUCTION <br /> :John-Duffy reported that the supplemental bills on new construction as yet have not gone out. John <br /> presented the bills to the Treasurer's office after they were prepared and followed up several times with <br /> the Treasurer to 'inquire about the status of the mailing. John stated that they were supposed to go out <br /> inn mediately after the third quarter tax bills carne due. Garcia Icing requested that at the next Board of <br /> I <br /> Assessors meeting, .John report on why the bills have not gone out, as well as what the total value in <br /> revenue is represented by these bills. <br /> ASSESSING OFFICE BUDGET <br /> John Duffy reported that his request for a proposed o increase in budget for the Assessing Office was <br /> accepted. The Town budget will be presented at the next Town Meeting for final approval. <br /> TEXT MEETINGS <br /> John Duffy requested that the Board of Assessors have a meeting once a week for the month of April, in <br /> order to stay on top of review of the abatement applications that are being received. The Board agreed to <br /> meet on the following dates in April: at the Assessing Office at Town Hall: <br /> 1 <br />
