M1 <br /> • <br /> a <br /> TOWN OF MASHPEE <br /> BOARD OF ASSESSORS <br /> Minutes of the Meeting of Wednesday, October 18, 2006 <br /> Board Members Present: <br /> Paul Andrews, Chairman <br /> Jason Btreebel, Vice Chairman - <br /> Sheldon Holzer: Clerk <br /> Chairman Paul Andrews called the meeting to order at 6:03 PM. <br /> REVIEW of MINUTES of 9120/06. <br /> The Board unanimously approved the minutes from the BOA meeting held on 9!20/06. <br /> BOARD of ASSESSORS REPORTS <br /> Paul Andrews Report. <br /> Paul Andrews reported that he had-tabled the Town Meeting warrant to review the return of the <br /> annual stipend to members of the Board of Assessors because a none of the Board members <br /> was able to be present at the Town Meeting; and b .Jason Streeb l had recused himself from <br /> a voting on the issue because of his application pending for the position of Director of Assessing. <br /> Also, Paul Andrews felt that postponement of the issue would allow addi onal time to provide the <br /> Finance Committee with background information as to the logic behind the request. Jason <br /> Btreebel pointed out that had the Town Meeting voted down approval of the Warrant, it would not <br /> e raised again for two gears. <br /> Jason Streebel—No Report. <br /> Sheldon Holzer—No Report. <br /> DIRECTOR of ASSESSING REPORT—Tony Podlesney, Assistant Director of Assessing <br /> In his absence from the Board meeting while attending a conference in Williamstown, Tong <br /> submitted the following written report. <br /> . Interviews for the new Director of Assessing were conducted on Wednesday,, October 11, <br /> 2006. Six candidates were Interviewed and the decision process is now In the hands of <br /> the Administration. <br /> • The fourteen pending ATB cases with Mr. William Haney were settled by Bruce <br /> Anderson. Bruce quotes approximately$5000 in abatements, but John Duffy had <br /> estimated up to the amount of around $9000 in a report to the Town Accountant. <br /> • The hardship application from Nis. Chapman has been re-submitted with the corrected <br /> fiscal year for the Board to review. . <br /> Supplemental tax bills were mailed out this week. Tony Podlesney reports that he has <br /> responded to a few concerned and/or upset owners but the Assessing office is not <br /> overw relined as yet~ <br /> Exemption amount increases for veterans have been pushed forward to fiscal 200 7. <br /> were rye changed immediately, and we will either be doing a*global: or a one-bar-one <br /> change to records already entered for the current fiscal year. <br /> Jason Streebel commented that the exemption amount increases for veterans will be reimbursed <br /> by the Mate, not from Town coffers. <br />
