Sheldon Holzer made a motion that the minutes from the 11/04/09 BOA Public <br /> Session be accepted as presented. Gregg Fraser seconded the motion. Gregg Fraser seconded the motion. The motion <br /> was unanimously approved. <br /> BOARD of ASSESSORS REPORTS <br /> No reports. . <br /> DIRECTOR of ASSESSING REPORT <br /> 1. State-owned Land Update <br /> Jason Streebel reviewed the history of the state-owned lard issue. The down of <br /> aashpee appealed the values of the state-owned land with the Appellate Tax Board, . <br /> which is reimbursed to the town every year. In 2005 the state-owned land was valued at <br /> $89,000,000, including the land at South Cape Beach and the Quashnet Fiver area. In <br /> 2009 the Commissioner of Revenue valued the land at $26,500,000 which is over a 0% <br /> drop. I la hpee, one of nine towns in the Commonwealth that appealed to the Appellate <br /> tax board, settled before going to trial for a little over what the assessment was <br /> ($44,600,000) at $45,500,000. Jason Streebel stated that without appealing the <br /> Commissioner's valines, I lashp a would have lost over $2,000,000 in reimbursement <br /> from the state over the next 4 years. The town will now receive $150,000 more than i <br /> would have had the BOA not appealed the valines. <br /> . Abatement Applications <br /> To date there have been 37 abatement applications received. The deadline for receipt <br /> of abatement applications for 2010 is 1/31/10. last year-there were 230 abatement. <br /> applications received. <br /> Sheldon Holzer made a emotion to add to the agenda a discussion of itemization of the <br /> tax bill. Gregg Fraser seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. <br />
