Gregg Fraser seconded the motion. The motion <br /> was unanimously approved. The <br /> motion was unanimously approved. <br /> BOARD OF ASSESSORS REPORTS: None. <br /> DIRECTOR OF ASSESSING REPORT <br /> Abatement Applications Update. Jason Streebel stated that the Board of <br /> Assessors meeting today was the last meeting to review most of the abatements <br /> before the cutoff date for receipt of applications. As of the meeting tonight, all but 31 <br /> of a total of 214 filed applications will have been processed. <br /> • Town Meeting Reminder. Jason Streebel reminded the Board members of the <br /> Town fleeting scheduled for Monday, May 3. 2010, at 7 PM. <br /> • DeP aent of Revenue Legal Dept. opinion Issued. Jason Streebel reported <br /> that the DOR has issued an opinion regarding the Senior Work-off Abatement <br /> Program. currently if someone works 7 c hours and gets a $600 to credit, it comes <br /> out of the town's overlay fund. The Board of Selectmen has approved 35 slots for <br /> the Senior Work-Off program, which totals $21,000 per year. Jason Streebel stated <br /> that although it is called a Senior ori-off Abatement program, there actually is n <br /> abatement of assessed value of,property, nor is there a tai exemption bung given. <br /> What is happening is that the Seniors are working, and are being given a to <br /> exemption for the hours worked. The Federal government considers this to be <br /> taxable income. The DOR is now saying that. he Seniors receiving the word-off <br /> abatement need to adjust their CPA takes for this abatement of $600. .Jason <br /> Streebel's question is whether or not the Assessing Department now must apply a <br /> CPA adjustment of 818.00 for the seniors participating in the work-off program, <br /> which goes over the town-budgeted $21,000. .Jason Streebel stated that he plans to <br />
