i
I
Cemetery Commission
March 30, 2006
Members present: Ernest Virgilio, Charles Hinkley
Others: Catherine Laurent
The meeting was opened at :oo p.m..
The Commission reviewed a request from a family for a variance from the memorial
regulations. Louise Sanford proposes to place an engraved reek on her son's grave
instead of a headstone. The plot is located in Section I and immediately abuts walkway
and the "natural' area at the rear of the section. The Commission found that because of
'the location of the specific plot, the rock would be appropriate. The Commission voted
unanimously to grant the variance request.
The Commission reviewed the budget request for FY07. The proposed budget is $20,000
and will for the first time be entirely f nded by cemetery receipts. This budget is
decrease from prior years, but the capital expenses, including the columns and fencing at
Great Neck Woods Cemetery, are almost completed.
The remainder of the budget in FY06 will be used to complete the columns/fencing and
the Bluestone walkways at Great beck woods Cemetery. Several trees in the cemetery .
will also be removed and replaced with better species for the location. The trees removed
will be replanted elsewhere.
The meeting adjourned at 4:30 p. ..
i
