MAS COUNCIL ON AGING
JUNE 99 2004
IN .M N NC : ALSO PRESENT:
Arthur Weinstein James Long
Jeanne Noussee Lynne Waterman
Jack Dorsey Mert Saper
Man j o Go me r
ABSENVEXCSD
Leila Botsford
Regina Godfrey
The Chairperson opened the meeting at 9:05 in Mfg Room 2 of M shpee Town Hail.
motion was made by Arthur Weinstein and seconded by Jane Noussee to adept the
mutes of the May meeting. The motion was approved.
TREASURER'S REPORT—Most of budget expenditures were right on target—but
energy expenses because of increased fuel cost for van could cause a problem. At the
time of the meeting,Jim was assessing the budget and,if needed,he would be asking for
additional finds through the Face comm.
DIRECTOR'S REPORT—
6
gave an o em of the many meetings he attended in the previous month—
including those associated with the building of the new senior center. Discussions are
still occurring between Mashpee Commons and Town over sewerage.
Also, the target date for purchasing decisions for the new center was July 15 and much
needed to be done.
The volunteer brunch was a huge success—many positive comments were heard,
especially about the Guest Speaker,JAnice Waifor&
The Upper Cape consortium grant request was ceded in the amount of$50,000 by
County government—this is a beginning of a mental health assessment service for our
Cape seniors. However,Cape Cod Hospital has chosen not to match fids.
The Director attended the Charter Foram held at Town Hall to discuss changes in town
goverment brought about by the vote to accept the Charter. One interesting aspect is the
power it gives the Face Committee over the town budget—also there would be a town
manager rather than a town administrator.
