Minutes of the Meeting of the Ma.shpee Americans with Disabilities Act Committee, <br /> November 9,2006 <br /> The 1lashpee Americans with Disabilities Act Committee net Thursday,November 9, <br /> 2006 at Mashpee Town Hall Meeting Room##2. <br /> Members in attendance: <br /> William Iundon(co-chair) <br /> Charles Maintains <br /> Merton Sapers' <br /> Robert Wooldridge <br /> Theresa Cook, Board of selectmen Liaison <br /> The minutes of the October 12, 2006 meeting were reviewed and approved pending a <br /> couple of minor corrections. Bob will make the corrections and provide an original copy <br /> of the corrected version to the Town Clerk. <br /> Mert reported he has eight volunteers for the handicapped parking patrols. All are from <br /> either TRIAD or the Civilian Police Academy. Because of their current affiliation with <br /> the Police Department required checks have already been conducted. Deputy Chief <br /> Todino will arrange for necessary training and will provide camera equipment. Mert <br /> estimates the patrols should be activated in about two weeks. Notices will be published <br /> in the paper announcing activation of the patrols. Charlie recommended the police <br /> Department contact owners or managers of the various locations to seek their approval <br /> for the patrols to operate on their private property. <br /> Charlie reported he has been notifying businesses requesting liquor license renewals of <br /> the need to bring handicapped parking spaces and signs in compliance with state and <br /> federal standards as a condition for renewal.Nearly all of those businesses visited so far <br /> have been very cooperative. His idea of starting the notifications and inspections early <br /> has really paid off as the owners have plenty of time to make the necessary corrections. <br /> He also has checked town facilities for compliance.
