LF: f9' <br /> OF <br /> Robert Sherman, Conservation Agent, was present also. <br /> The meeting was called to ord r at :05 p.m. <br /> Town Counsel and the Executive secretary carne before the commission to discuss the <br /> cranberry bog lease. <br /> Mr. Reardon advised they have been in discussions with ditty. James McGillen who <br /> represents the bog licensees re setting a price for the 1990 crop already harvested. <br /> They have tried to link the 1990, 1991 and 1992 crop issue as one package and want <br /> the town to set a price for their planning purposes. To resolve the issue of the <br /> 1990 crop, he recommends following the 1989 crop price, 25 of gross value per <br /> barrel. It was left up in the air and should have been addressed prior to nom; <br /> there is responsibility on both sides. If claming damages, they have an obligation <br /> to cone forward. <br /> Mrs, Simmons pointed out thein lawyer went over and agreed to a contract stating a <br /> review time when they knew they are not going to be dere; they are remiss. This is <br /> the second contract they have done this, <br /> The duality of crop year was discussed and 1r. Harrington stated it was a fair crop. <br /> Mrs. Simmons added, if it can be judged by the Handy Bog, it did not drop by any <br /> amount. <br /> Mr. Reardon asked if the price for berries remained the same as in 1989? <br /> Mr. Harrington asked thea what the yield to the town would be and it was estimated <br /> to be $25-26,000. <br /> Mr. Reardon advised, concerning invoices, they have sworn they sent the invoices <br /> and reports to the commission.. The lawyer has agreed to get copies. <br /> Mrs. Sa.rmons advised no invoices or reports have been received from thea. <br /> Mr. Reardon listed the issues: <br /> 1. Take care of the 1990 crop and make a decision. He and Mr. Harrington <br /> recommend the . <br /> Mrs, Simmons advised the commission had taken a vote in December to go ahead with <br /> the 25% figure. <br /> Mr. Reardon asked if they can report back the 25% is acceptable for 1990 and the <br /> commission agreed they could. <br /> . 1991 and 1992 crops present more difficulty because the leers are aware <br /> the Town through the Conservation Commission has been investigating taking <br /> over the operation. They are concerned with the rumors. <br /> .so, there have been problems with vandalism; the ditches have been tampered with. <br /> They are unable to do anything about the problem; location is the big problem. <br /> Mrs. Simmons advised this was reported to the Police. Installing gates has been <br /> considered and the bog operators felt this would cause more damage to be done. <br />
