Chairperson Dery convexed the meeting- -at 7:35 p:-ran. 1 <br /> Board member. Charlie Buckingham, expressed interest in .attending a- MA C• <br /> meeting at the cost of $10 for ,registration. Request. approved <br /> Paula -1tis and Wendy Rubin met with. the Commission to discuss with the <br /> Board the update of open spice maps which the recreation Department has.. � <br /> been doing, Acting Chairperson- DeLory suggested that they contact Bob' <br /> l eLory in the Assessor t s office regarding-' any questions- that they have, <br /> on acreage. <br /> Wendy expressd interest in serving on -the aiinenent nrittee for the <br /> newly acquired 120 acre parcel in the. "ohn' s Fond Area,, The load asked <br /> the secretary to send a letter to the Selectmen' s' requesting. that Wendy <br /> Rubin be appointed to tie- Committee* At this. point,, Wendy was advised. <br /> that a meeting will be held -with the Executive .secretary at the ' Conse va- <br /> tlon Commission' s next meeting .of October 12 at 8 :30 p.m-, , <br /> Members of the Fells Pond Committee of Peninsul Council met with. the <br /> Commission for advise with reference to a growthh- hich stated cropping <br /> up . in F611s Pond, -ars 6 to 10 acre ftesh water_ pond. The Chairman of the <br /> Committee, Mrs. Mary- Scanlon, e plained that the; growth detaches itself <br /> and floats around the pond. Saxe said that it, is veer thick and could. be <br /> dangerous to children who might. get. caught in it. She commented that <br /> various avenues have been explored as- far -as treating it with suggestions <br /> ranging. from smothering-it with burlap or plastic or trea ing it with-. <br /> chemicals .and herbicides, Mrs. Scanlon said -that their feeling is to <br /> wait until Spring to -see what it looks like. <br /> Discussion was rade from ria to r lt i �. o f the- pond to dredging, <br /> harlie commented that the miff i does not tolerate much cold.
