DeFoe <br /> From: Janet Bumke <br /> Re:_ Monthly Report <br /> The month of November began with a fascinatixr Family Story Time about the Children <br /> of Afghanistan. n November 3rd,Necla Whritenour described her childhood <br /> experience of living in Afghanistan to a group of 41 adults and children. <br /> To first grade classes from the K. C. Coombs School visited the library this month for <br /> their field trip: <br /> Nov. 5th Mrs. Murphy's Class 22 <br /> Nov. 6 t" Mrs. Connor's Class 20 <br /> I visited the Kids Klub Preschool on Nov.71h and brought story time to 17 children in the <br /> morning session and 7 children in the afternoon. <br /> The Cape and Islands Children's Librarians Roundtable sponsored a Capewide Family <br /> Literacy event t the Cape Cod Community College on November loth. The Crabgrass <br /> Puppet Theater presented their version of "Jabberwocky". T'he event was successful with <br /> full house of approximately Soo people. <br /> The ro final am of the Connecting Cultures Grant project was held on November Wh. <br /> . program <br /> Community members were invited to attend a Focus Croup Coffee Hour order to-recap <br /> all of the grant projects, and also to help evaluate the grant project. The attendance for <br /> this program was 15 adults. In addition, 14 children participated in a story time presented <br /> by junior volunteers, Megan Reichel and Claudia Hinkle. <br /> On November 17 1n I attended ars educators conference sponsored by the Upper Cape <br /> Family Network. It was a rewarding day as I attended two workshops, one on literacy <br /> tips and one on Native American Life gray . i also heard speakers from the Department o <br /> Education and a panel discussion on the current state of Early Childhood education in <br /> Massachusetts. <br /> This month we started a weekly Harry Potter Trivia Contest, The Scholastic Book <br /> Company seat nye a box of beautiful metal Harry Potter bookmarks. These bookmarks <br /> are being used as the weekly prizes. Junior volunteers, Danny Burke and Andre <br /> Reichel, made up ten weeks worth of trivia questions. Each week we will have four <br /> winners. For the week ending November 30th, 13 people participated. <br />
