PRESENT : HELENE DEF F, LIBRARY DIRECTOR ANTON BUS HFNFBLDT ARL D' ESTE TERI HYDE IMI MARSH DTANNA SMITH ABSENT : DAVID BURTON ary �ynatian II Meeting called to order S III DISCUSSION OF SITES FIELDS POINT HAS OFFERED TO THE LIBRARY ; DISCUSSED PROS AND CONS OF CHANGING SITES . A. Present site -vs . alternate sites : 1 . Mimi stated that she loved the present site . This was where they had start6d and if it were at all possible, this would be her first choice . 2 . Helene stated that in her opinion, this was the best location. ,That the other locations -would have was , it would be less disruptive to the operation. . Dianna stated that she liked the access--ibilityof the present site. No matter how much they might say those were prime sites , she felt they were off the street , second thoughts . You cannot ignore this site : No matter where you approach it from, it is visible. 4 . Teri : I leve this location . Putting yourself in Fields Point ' s thinking , they want you to go to the library , and from a business point of view, they want you to go to the library, and pass all of the stores . Helene added , another thing that may factor into this , is that when the grant was prepared., it was for this. speci.f is site. We had to complete the grant application by a given time, and it had to cite a certain spot ; We had to have test borings completed of this property to prove that it could support a building . We had to write to the Mass . Historic Commission to show that there were no artifacts on this piece of land . We have dome none of those for any of the other sites . The boring alone cost $31, 000 . The question , where would the money come from to repeat the same tests on another site. None of us would wart to even consider another site if it in any way jeopardized receiving the grant ,
