Public Library
P.O. Box 657
Mashpee, 1' a 02649
Circulation for the month- f October 2001..totaled 85214.items. This is slightly less than
last October(348 items les W aye sfiil-se i g-t.hin somewhat slower than usual_ This
is probably still due to the S ptemb r 11 attacks and the anthrax incidents. Year-to-
date, 45,795 items circulated.
I completed the library equipment inventory I mentioned in-last month's report. Ihave.
sent the inventory to-Joyce Mason with a memo stating the library is under-insured and
the Town should have an appraiser look at the contents with-the intention to increase
coverage. The building is insured for$469,407 and the contents for only $ o, 492. The
collection current ly stands-at about 34,00o items,so-it's-obvious that has of been
included in the insurance figures.
I met with Mrs. Mason to discuss the library's submission to the CIP budget. As w
discussed at last month's meeting-, Svc-need to get thelibrary-project back'on trach. She
assured m e that building a library is-still a high priority. - I-looped to her for guidance for
how to enter our project. We agreed-a tie--year phase made the-most se ser for funding
purposes. I have eater $350,000-for preliminary design in-EY-20035 $100;040 inFY
2004 for final design and bidding documents and $4,000,000 in FY-2005 for constructing
and equipping the library. I have run these figures past.David.Burton,wilding
Committee chairman, before submission and he concurred with that approach.
11 nformed Mrs. Mason't ta j oiht-meding ofe tee uildin -Committee was
scheduled for November 13 .
