BOARD of LIBRARY TRUSTEES <br /> REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING <br /> TUESDAYS DECEMBER 10 2002 <br /> MAS ' L LIBRARY MEETING ROOM <br /> Present; Ann MacDonald-Dailey, Alice Rauppius, Carlo D'Este, Gary Eynatian,Mimi Marsh, <br /> David Burton,, and Helene DeFoe, Library Director. <br /> .Absent: Dianna Snaith. <br /> David Burton, Chairman, called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. <br /> Approval of Minutes <br /> Alice Rauppius motioned to accept the November 12 minutes as corrected; Ann MacDonald- <br /> Dailey seconded the motion; and all voted to accept,except Carlo D'Este and Gary Eynation, who <br /> abstained: <br /> Reports <br /> Helene DeFoe, Library ry Director, said they interviewed for the part-time position. Hired- Lauren <br /> Kariner, who is working at circulation desk. Lauren has been here 2-1/2 weeks. Helene <br /> mentioned that when they went to Board of Selectmen forapproval to Dire,the Selectmen <br /> consented they were very impressed with the quality of candidates who had applied. <br /> Helene advised that Gerda is using vacation time, so she is only going to be working 2 days in <br /> December. Ann asked about the "freeze"on additional hires. Following in-depth discussion it <br /> was the consensus of the Board that in view of the critical need to hire personnel to fill vacancy <br /> that someone from the Board should be at the December 16 Board of Selectmen meeting to <br /> support this issue. It was also noted that money is already in the budget for this replacement. <br /> Motion: Aran motioned that a letter be drafted and signed by David to the Board of Selectmen to <br /> inform the Selectmen of the importance of this position and that this position be filled. Carlo <br /> seconded this motion; and it was unanimously carried. <br /> Helene distributed a copy of Janet Bur e's report through month ofNovember(copy attached to <br /> the minutes). <br /> Communications <br /> David advised Haat he spoke with Bob Kempf and one of his graphic designers and there may be <br /> an opportunity when Library design truly approved and fund raising officially kicked off for <br /> Library on the whole (including Friends, etc.)to avail themselves of pro bono services of Bob <br /> Kempf to do something on web site. <br /> Old Business <br /> Ann asked how we made out on the $80,000 gift. Helene responded: not yet, but she heard they <br /> are close. <br />
